When he choose to contest from New Delhi, this three-time MP(from Chandni Chowk and Sadar) had claimed he was a leader of the whole city. But he fell short by 1.87 lakh votes. His inability to connect with the education urban middle class and the BJPs infighting also cost him dear.

BJP, West Delhi
He was the only BJP candidate in the city who started as favourite to contest the elections, having been the MLA from JanakPuri since 1980. But he lost the elections by 1.29 lakh votes.
Ramesh Bidhuri,47
BJP, South Delhi
The two time Tughlakhabad MLA had his math worked out prior elections – depending upon the 9 percent gujjar voters and 31 percent OBCs.But he lost by 93,000 votes to Congress candidate Ramesh Kumar(Sajjan Kumar’s Brother).

The only hindu hardliner candidate face of the BJP blamed the party’s non performance in Municipal Corporatin of Delhi for his defeat by 2.27 lakh votes.

The former test cricketer lost the elections by 2.41 lakh, the biggest margin in Delhi. Always perceived as the weakest candidate while pitted against the chief minister’s son(Sandeep dikshit), he did not even have the support of party workers.
Meera Kanwaria, 58
BJP, Northwest Delhi
She had a tough battle ahead the moment Jat voters decided to boycott the BJP for refusing a ticket to Parvesh Verma, son of late Jat leader Sahib Singh Verma. Even though he canvassed for her, it didn’t really help. She lost by 1.84 lakh votes.
Vijendra Gupta, 45
BJP, Chandni Chowk
The former MCD Standing committee chairman lost to the Congress Candidate Kapil Sibbal by a margin of 2,00,710 votes. A local image and the lack of national exposure seems to have been his weakness. This is his first major electoral defeat. He had won municipal polls from Rohini thrice – in 1997,2002 and 2007.
