How to take care of your eyes?

October 26th, 2010  |  Published in TIPS

1 Must do: A visit to an opthamologist should be an annual routine, especially when above 40 years of age. Myopia (near-sightedness), diabetes, glaucoma and hypertension mandate careful and regular eye examination.

2 Avoid these: Avoid direct blast of an air-conditioner as it causes drying up of the tear film from eyes leading to discomfort and heaviness in eyes. Also avoid sitting for long hours in front of the computer.

3 Healthy diet: A healthy diet consisting of fruits and vegetables, should be consumed. Vitamin A, found in carrots and sweet potatoes and Vitamin C rich fruits like oranges and strawberries are thought to be beneficial. Also, include nuts like almond and hazelnut in your daily diet.

4 Hygiene: Swimming in inadequately cleaned pools can lead to eye infection. Also, contact lenses should be cleaned properly.

5 Proper rest: Your eyes need rest, so make sure to obtain a good night’s sleep to rest your tired eyes.
