Mobile number portability to start from 20th January, 2011

Every mobile is eagerly waiting for the arrival of Mobile Number portability, it’s been ages since this came into discussion and some many postponements to its official launch.

But, now it’s final. Mobile number portability (MNP) under which you can change your telecom service provider while retaining your existing number, is being introduced nationwide from Thursday (20th January, 2011). It has already begun in parts of Haryana.

At 5-PM sharp, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will launch India-Wide MNP.

Idea (Telecom service provider) seems to be one who is eagerly waiting for MNP launch, as most of their advertisements being telecasted on Television are targeted towards MNP.

Latest being “What are you doing on 20th January, Lady responds – No Idea!! To which Abhishek’s reply is – Get an Idea’

With 20th January being highlighted point.
