The Budget Speech of the Finance Minister

It is fine tuned to the last minute. Some of the budget documents are almost ready and goes for printing to a press located in North Block itself. Security agencies cordon off the press and entry is almost prohibited.

In India, the Budget is presented in Parliament on a date fixed by the President.

The finance minister delivers the Budget speech in Parliament. Normally, on February 28, the finance minister delivers the Budget Speech in Lok Sabha. After which Budget documents are made available. These are out on the web site http://www.finmin.nic.in .However, if the year turns out to be leap year; the budget is presented to Parliament on 29^th February. Read more…

A new helpline has been launched by Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibbal, which promises to help victims of ragging within 15 minutes. This is termed as National anti-ragging helpline.

Swine Influenza, the latest disease to spread panic amongst people, can be described as respiratory disease of pigs. Popularly known as swine flu, it is caused by type-A influenza virus and is characterized by high levels of illness in pigs. However, the disease does not result in too many deaths, in other words it has a low mortality rate.
