HOW TO FIX CRACKED LIPS

  • Treat them: Always use lip balms that are natural and chemical-free, at regular intervals. Apply olive oil or coconut oil and massage your lips daily. It will keep them soft and supple.
  • Keep the tongue off: Avoid licking your lips when chapped. Once the saliva dries, the crack only get worse.
  • Drink more water: During winter, water intake tends to go down. If the body is dry and dehydrated, the lips get drier. So, drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day, to avoid dryness. Also, cover your face when travelling to prevent damage from dry winter air.
  • Fight the sun: If you are stepping out in the sun, remember to apply lip balm with SPF protection before wearing lip color. It will protect your lips from the harmful effects of the sun’s ultra violet rays which aren’t just a summer hazard.
  • Heal them at home: A home remedy to deal with cracked lips is to apply cucumber slices or its juice. It provides a soothing effect. Neem paste and aloe veera, too, act as antiseptic agents, and help in healing the cracked surface of the lips.
