Insurance Travel: Travel insurance is a must for all those who are going abroad for working or studying. Do insure all your belongings like laptop and other expensive items.
Stay medically equipped: Accidents or illness do not come with a prior notice, so it’s a good idea to take additional medical insurance just in case you need expensive treatments while you are abroad. It is advisable to carry some medicines along after prescription from doctor for few treatments like – fever, stomach infection, cold etc.
Foreign exchange: You can carry traveller’s cheques to meet initial accommodation costs, but after you settle down, keep some emergency cash handy, say about $1,000 (Rs 45,000 approx).
Mind Your Documents: Preserve all original copies of your academic certificates, university documents, admission receipts or job appointment letter carefully. Don’t forget to keep photocopies of everything in your bag that you carry on a day-to-day basis.
Stay Connected: It’s very important to always keep the university address and contact details, including after-hours contact and your full accommodation details, in your hand baggage.
