Anupam kher was holding a premiere of Saaransh on Sunday 25 years after the film was released. He held the belated premiere at the Metro Theatre, where the critically acclaimed film was first released.
Anupam Kher couldn’t have received a better silver jubilee gift than a role in Hollywood’s ace filmmaker Woody Allen’s project to be shot in london later this year. He was totally ecstatic and said it’s a dream come true.
To share this glorious moment with Anupam at the screening of Saaransh was his brother Raju, wife Kirron and close friends from the industry including Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Dibakar Bannerjee, Neeraj Pandey and David Dhawan who had edited Saaransh.
Saaransh is a story of an old couple living in Bombay, coming to terms with the death of their only son who is killed in a mugging incident in New York.A poignant moment in the movie is one in which Pradhan, the school teacher (played by Anupam Kher) is haggling with the customs officials to recover the ashes of his son. Anupam Kher was only 28 years old but he played the role of a retired stubborn old man in this movie with aplomb thereby establishing himself as a great actor.
