How to take care of your eyes?

Must do: A visit to an opthamologist should be an annual routine, especially when above 40 years of age. Myopia (near-sightedness), diabetes, glaucoma and hypertension mandate careful and regular eye examination.

Avoid these: Avoid direct blast of an air-conditioner as it causes drying up of the tear film from eyes leading to discomfort and heaviness in eyes. Also avoid sitting for long hours in front of the computer.

Healthy diet: A healthy diet consisting of fruits and vegetables, should be consumed. Vitamin A, found in carrots and sweet potatoes and Vitamin C rich fruits like oranges and strawberries are thought to be beneficial. Also, include nuts like almond and hazelnut in your daily diet.

Hygiene: Swimming in inadequately cleaned pools can lead to eye infection. Also, contact lenses should be cleaned properly.

Proper rest: Your eyes need rest, so make sure to obtain a good night’s sleep to rest your tired eyes.
