Shampoo Selection: Select a mild herbal shampoo according to your hair type. Use less shampoo and rinse hair well with water.

Once a week ritual: Add a handful each of dry reetha, amla and shikakai to one litre of water and soak overnight. The next day, simmer over a low fire till water reduces to half. Cool and strain. Keep it in the fridge. The liquid is enough for four hair washes.

Egg for nourishment: Egg white has a powerful cleaning action. For oily hair, apply the white of an egg half an hour before shampooing.

For summers: In hot and humid weather, wash oily hair three or four times, a week. Dry hair may be washed two or three times a week. In humid weather, add the juice of a lemon and half a cup of rose water to a mug of water and use it as a last rinse after shampoo.

Moisturize them: After washing the hair, do no rub it with a towel. Allow the towel to soak up moisture and wrap it around the head for a few minutes. After washing, comb out tangles, starting from the ends and going upwards.
