If you are caught for any traffic violation and you do not have enough money in your pocket. This is no more going to be a problem in few days – you will be able to pay fine through credit card or debit cards. Trial for e-challaning will start in the Capital by the end of the month. During the period practical e-challaning will take place on the violators.

Delhi Traffic police has selected ‘9’ companies for the pilot project of e-enforcement across major parts of the city. The ‘9’ players will cover ‘9’ circles including Rohini, Tilak Marg, Vasant Vihar, Civil Lines, Dwarka, Vivek Vihar, Chanakyapuri, RK Puram and Parliament Street.

Some of the big players which would participate in the pilot project include Delhi Integrated Multi Modal Transit System Ltd. (DIMMTS), Vayam Tachnologies Ltd, Wipro Ltd and Turbo Consultancy Service Pvt. Ltd.

The device would be designed in such a way that as soon as a vehicle’s registration number is entered, the machine will automatically scan the server and ascertain if vehicle is stolen, or wanted in criminal case or is on the list of suspicious vehicles.

The New System Highlights

  • E-challan machine is a GPRS enabled hand-held device
  • It can issue challan for all 412 violations prescribed in MV Act
  • Fine can be paid through cash, all debit and credit cards
  • Once e-challan is issued, it cannot be cancelled or tempered
  • This system will reduce the possibility of wrongdoings by traffic police
