No excess soap: More detergent doesn’t mean cleaner clothes. In fact, excess soap can damage cotton garments beyond repair.  Read the instructions: Follow care-label directions for washing and drying temperatures. Do not use very hot temperatures, or your clothes may shrink. Hand wash in a good soft detergent or machine
