Although there are occasions where flowers have unique meaning and evolve nice feelings (Valentine’s day being of the most preferable day for flowers), but no matter what flowers will still be on the minds of Delhi-ites. With the onset of spring season, the Mughal Gardens opened for the visitors a few days ago and the Garden Tourism Festival started on 18February,2011 at the Garden of Five Senses.
The 24th Edition of the festival with Herbs of Happiness as its theme will have a large variety of plants and flowers on display as well as for sale. Few attractions this year, are exclusive Bonsai display, daily cultural programme and magic show.  The festival was start in 2004 with the sole intention that will allow everyone to be closer to nature.
The three-day long festival will host on-the-spot painting competitions for children. Also it’s great place to meet flower enthusiasts and gather a few useful tips regarding gardening. Among other things on display, will be garden accessories and hanging baskets.
This time of the year sees most botanical gardens of the city blooming with colorful flowers. The historic Mughal Gardens at the Rashtrapati Bhawan were thrown open to Visitors on February 15,2011. Called the Rashtrapati Bhawan Udyanotsav, the month-long festival offers a wide variety of flowers like roses, tulips and double pansies. The visitors can also take home a variety of souvenirs and gifts from the curio shop being setup for the first time, this year.
Another special attraction is a Vertical Garden (a green/floral wall) and a Bonsai Garden with 200 plants and a Cactus Corner. Besides, vegetables grown in the President’s Gardens will also be on display.
