How To Save Skin From Holi Colors

Protection Time: Holi is the time when the skin gets totally ripped off its natural oils and softness, due to the chemicals contained in colors, so taking proper precautions is important. Apply a body oil, face cream/oil and hair oil before stepping out to play holi. The cream acts as a barrier and does not let the pores of the skin soak up the colors directly.

Use Natural colors: It’s always best to use natural colors that are made from turmeric and flowers. They are not only safe for the skin but can also be washed off easily. Use your kitchen ingredients to whip out some safe for skin colors. Think beetroot color or a green spinach color.

Keep yourself away from sunlight: Avoid sitting in the hot sun, with the colors still on your face or body, after playing holi, especially if you have used chemical colors. This makes the colors stronger and difficult to wash off. Sit in a shade even if you are outdoors.

Use Scrubber: Avoid scrapping off colors with your finger nails as they will leave unpleasant marks. Gently apply a granular scrub on the body and face to get rid of the colors.

Clean Well: Wash your hair with a mild shampoo 2-3 times. Try to wash off as much color as possible. In case the color doesn’t completely go off, repeat the process the next day too. After the shower, splash the face and body with a deep moisturizer.
